Kettering Car Scheme

Kettering Volunteer Car Scheme provided transport to medical appointments, Monday to Friday, for residents within the Borough of Kettering who are elderly, disabled, without their own vehicle or who cannot use public transport.

How to Arrange Transport

Please give at least THREE working days notice of your appointment, if you do not give this notice we cannot guarantee that a car and driver will be available.

Bookings must be made through the office and not with the driver.

Alternative journeys may be arranged at the discretion of the co-ordinator. The number of journeys for hospital and residential home visits is limited.

Charges

There is an initial registration subscription fee of £15 per person, with an annual renewal subscription of £15 per person. Please make cheques payable to Kettering Volunteer Car Scheme.

You will be required to make a contribution to the fuel costs incurred by your journey, as all our drivers are volunteers and give their time for free. The cost of the journey includes the return.

Please pay the driver in cash only.

A list of these costs can be provided on request.

Assistance with Costs

If you are attending hospital for NHS treatment and are in receipt of certain benefits, e.g. pension credit, you may be able to claim your travel costs.

More information is available for the co-ordinator.
Booking office hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 12 noon
